In order to use SNMP to monitor the Unomaly instance, the snmpd service needs to be installed.
First, enable the Debian apt repositories, by creating the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list with the following contents:
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian jessie main
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian-security/ jessie/updates main
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian jessie-updates main
Afterwards, run the following commands to install the service:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install snmpd
The SNMP service is now installed and can be queried from your monitoring software.
We also recommend removing the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list after this procedure, since it may interfere with future Unomaly updates.
If you don't have internet access on your Unomaly machine, you can download the files manually and transfer them to the instance. As of February 2019, the following versions are available for download.
After uploading them to a folder on the instance, run the following command to install the packages:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
This will start the SNMP service and can be configured in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf to match your environment.
